  1. Copy your install snippet

In VisitorLayer, open your project. A new project opens on setup; for an existing one, go to SettingsInstallationOpen setup. Select Copy snippet. Your snippet already holds your project ID.

    HTML
    <script async src="https://visitorlayer.com/v1.js" data-project-id="your-project-id"></script>
  2. Install the WPCode plugin

WordPress has no built-in place for header code. In your WordPress admin, go to PluginsAdd New Plugin, search for WPCode, then select Install Now and Activate.

  3. Paste the snippet into the header

Go to Code SnippetsHeader & Footer, paste the snippet into Header, and select Save Changes.

Keep WPCode active. Deactivating it removes the snippet from every page.
  4. Check it worked

Open your live site in a new tab and load any page. Back in VisitorLayer, project setup shows VisitorLayer is connected within a minute.

Using a caching plugin? Clear its cache first, or visitors keep getting pages without the snippet.
